About Tooling:
We help you save without compromising on quality. We keep your costs to a minimum by using inexpensive steel rule dies and quality raw materials in large quantities, reducing material costs. Steel-rule dies can be produced in a matter of days, reducing lead times on initial orders for new shim or gasket designs. A single tooling charge lets you avoid hidden costs, and there are no set-up charges for subsequent orders.

The Color Tells the Thickness
Color-coded products are available in aluminum and plastic for your convenience. Each color represents a specific shim thickness, making distinguishing between thicknesses quick and easy. With variations in shim thickness being as little as 0.00025”, differentiating by color instead of measuring shims drastically saves time and reduces errors.

We offer five shim materials and three gasket materials
Color-Coded Plastic Shims
Artus plastic shims are remarkably durable, pliable, economical, non-hygroscopic, and impervious to oil for the exact positioning of your machines and equipment. Plastic shims are color-coded by thickness for quick and easy identification. View the thickness chart below to see the list of colors and sizes.
Custom dies can be made to cut plastic shims up to 42” in diameter in a single piece. Larger OD shims can be made in segments. Plastic Timken Shims are also available for cone-and-cup-adjusted tapered roller bearings (see Timken Chart).
Color-Coded Aluminum Shims
Non-compressible, burr-free, rust-proof, and long-lasting, Artus aluminum shims are ideal in operating temperatures over 500° F (260° C). Aluminum shims are color-coded by thickness for quick and easy identification. View the thickness chart to see the list of colors and sizes.
Custom dies can be made to cut metal shims up to 24” in diameter in a single piece. Larger OD shims require segmented dies. Aluminum Timken Shims are also available for cone-and-cup-adjusted tapered roller bearings (see Timken Chart).
Stainless Steel and Low Carbon Steel Shims
When you need shims to perform under extreme conditions, Artus stainless and low-carbon steel shims do the job like no other. Our laser technology assures superior quality steel shims that stand up to extreme conditions and demanding applications.
Our stainless-steel shims use Stainless Steel 300 Series Alloy, making them non-corrosive and rust-proof. Our low-carbon steel shims use Cold Rolled 1010 Steel, making them durable and economical. Aluminum shims are perfect for tool and die shops, machine repair, and bearing adjustments.

Brass Shims
Artus manufactures the highest quality standard and custom brass shims to satisfy your most exacting tolerances and specifications. Artus Brass Shims are burr-free, heavy-duty, and always uniform in thickness. Artus Brass Shims use 70/30 B36 Cartridge Brass, which has the highest brass ductility, great strength, and impressive corrosion resistance.
Custom dies can be made to cut metal shims up to 24” in diameter in a single piece. Larger OD shims can be made in segments.
Gaskets
Artus manufactures custom gaskets in any size, shape, and quantity desired. Get the seal you need promptly with our efficient and economical gasket-cutting process. Our custom gaskets can be made in vegetable fiber, cork composition, and asbestos-substitute material. Contact us for help finding the material with characteristics best suited to your needs.
Custom gaskets are available in any required shape and quantity and have a variety of thicknesses from 0.0005” to 0.060”. Custom dies can be made to cut gaskets up to 42” in diameter in a single piece. Larger OD gaskets can be made in segments.
